Pick a video from the phone, or share one into Vimpse. Set start and finish the same way you would on YouTube. Save it. Several Vimpses can point at the same copied file — a birthday video can become Arriving, Speech, Cake, Kids dancing, without five copies of the original unless you export them.
Why Vimpse copies the file
Android picker access can expire. If Vimpse only stored the original URI, a saved moment could go silent later. The app copies the chosen video into private storage so replay still works. Deleting a Vimpse removes that record. The copied file is deleted only when no remaining Vimpse uses it.
Sharing a local moment
You can export the selected interval as a normal video through Android’s share sheet. That re-encodes just the range. Sharing a whole Wall can include original local files; the app tells you when personal video is in the package. Vimpse does not upload those files to a Vimpse server. There is no Vimpse cloud for this. Google Drive sharing is not in the current app.
